dreams
September 5, 2006A little girl woke up sobbing. Her mother asked her “What’s wrong? Did you have a nightmare?”The girl shook her head and said “No mother I had the most pleasant dream”.“Then why are you crying?” Her mother asked again. The girl replied “Coz I woke up and realized it was only a dream”.
Everybody has dreams. Big dreams. Small dreams. Dreaming with eyes wide open. Dreaming while asleep. Dreams that comes from the subconscious. Dreams borne of the heart. Dreams invented by the mind factory. We wake up each day hoping for that dream to materialize. Some sit on a corner, glazed eye with their fingers crossed, staring into space and waiting for a dream to happen. Others shed blood, sweat and tears all in the name of dream. Sometimes we work so hard for a dream to come true and we don’t even realize that it had. Sometimes we have dreams that we wish all our life to happen and when it does it loses its essence.
I dream. I dream for dreaming sake. I live in a dream world where I make up my own reality. In a world where unicorns and true love still exist. In a world where I conjure places and faces out of thin air. I don’t care if my dreams come true or not. I dream my life away and make it last rather than live a dream and knowing it won’t last. Maybe I’m just not ready to let my dreams go and wake up to this farce called life. I won’t wake. I’ll only wake when its time to sleep.

That was she.
Reaching for something, touching something she wasn't able to hold onto.
"Have you ever felt," she whispered, thinking aloud. "Have you ever felt like a dream is slipping away, slipping right through your fingers?"
There was a long silence and she thought perharps he'd fallen asleep. But then he spoke, his voice slow and quiet. "Maybe we just need to close our hands. Close our hands and refuse to let the dream go."
That was a line I got from a book I've read. I put that in my blog during the time when life wasn't going the way I hoped it would. That realizing my dreams seemed far-fetched than ever. But a guy commented: "Sometimes life ebbs so far down that it doesn't seem like it will ever ebb back up. Alot of the time, blind trust in life going well again is all that will get you through. Sometimes, when you're in the pit, you think it won't… But it always does, trust me. Never let go of what you believe in and are hoping for." and I took faith in those words.
Dreams do happen in the "real world", Raine. If not, why would we still be dreaming?
*I know, I know.. I'm not making sense.. Hehehe..
