Repopsicled
November 4, 2006I posted an ad for Popsicle mp3s before. I wasn’t really hopeful coz not many seemed to have heard of the band and those who remembered it don’t have any Mp3s either.
Just what really makes Popsicle special too me? There’s just something about their songs that transports me back to my HS days when life was simpler. There’s this X quality to their songs makes you wanna take a long drive on a country road somewhere with the windows open … wind whipping on your face and reminisce those good old days with your stereo playing Popsicle of course. I thought I was the only one who felt like that but I found some kindred souls from different sides of the globe. I’m really thankful that they bothered to respond and sent me some mp3s.
First to respond was Radix who sent me an email with the mp3s and we both agreed that the alternative music from the 90’s absolutely rocks. We now correspond regularly to exchange mp3s from obscure bands. He was the one who introduced me to Depapepe, a Japanese acoustic Duo. Coolness.
Next, was mangz74 who sent me the whole Popsicle Lacquer album. Yehey! Alright! I found it funny coz I thought he was American and we talked in English for a while when I thought of asking where’s he from, he told me he was originally from the Philippines and a bisdak too. He also thought I was from Europe or something until he read some Bisaya comments in my blog. Toink! He was with a band and was pretty active in the music scene before here in the Phils. but stopped and some of their colleagues are now popular and . . .ok I think I’m saying too much and getting sidetracked from my topic.
Anyways, THANK YOU GUYS for spreading some love and cheers.
I can now die in peace.
Mmmm..Not really, I’m still waiting for Mick (from DK?) to reply. He said he have a copy of all the Popsicle albums (Lacquer, Stand up and Testify, Popsicle, Abstinence and The Good Side Of…)

i used to have a Popsicle cassette tape (Abstinence, with Hey Princess as a bonus track), but i wore it out. now i’m desperately looking for mp3s and chords/tabs/lyrics, particularly of the songs from the album Abstinence.
a few days ago i got hold of Histrionics. i also saw a couple other Popsicle vids on youtube. i’m gonna download an audio stream recorder soon and they’re goin straight to my player.

I saw now you already got the tip, but check out youtube, many videos there. I love them to death and I was in jr high when they were big here in Sweden. Found your page cause I am looking for the lyrics to Histrionics, so if you’ve got them, please email me, mspgolightly@gmail.com.
I have most of their CD’s (maybe all?), what are you missing and I can get it to you. I have some Cd’s in my summer house, but a couple here at home.
They played a reunion concert in Stockholm two years ago, it was fantastic, hope it happens again sometime.

Posted by Anna at March 14, 2007, 4:13 pmhey guys…i absolutely love popsicle!!! i have a casette tape of abstinence but unfortunately my old player ate it up. their songs just give me feelings of nostalgia of my elementary days, i was like in grade 5 when i heard about them. i think very few people know them and most websites i’ve encoutered are that of pinoys, i guess filipinos really like their music.
hope you guys can help me as to where i can find their mp3s? the only song i found was histrionics & i’ve been looking everywhere…even the lyrics of their songs are so hard to find…i’m getting so frustrated. if anyone would be kind enough to send me their mp3s i would really appreciate it!!!

i just came across your blog.. it was just bliss when i first got their album via cd warehouse.. i waited like 3 weeks for my lacquer and abstinence album to arrive.. and now i have mostly all of their albums.. i remember when i used to play them on my cassette walkman in my highschool days..

Posted by k at February 7, 2008, 7:09 pmhi. i love popsicle too. i’ve been looking for mp3’s of older popsicle albums (lacquer and abstinence) for quite a while now and i recently found them on bittorrent (thank God for bittorrent)! i also got mp3s for “a good side of;”.
i fell in love with popsicle the first time i heard them on abstinence in cassette back in HS days. anyways, let me know if you’re still looking for popsicle mp3s.

i was browsing my collection when i came across an mp3 file that I got from someone from sweden years ago. he have seen popsicle too but didn't have their songs. anyway, he shared a song from a band name pia fraus..i'm sending it over..hope u like it…
