Heroes
March 29, 2007I’m addicted to another TV show, Heroes. I’ve heard about it before from a friend in the states when the show started September of last year. But since it isn’t shown here yet, I didn’t give it much thought. But then two Sundays ago it was shown in RPN9, I was able to watch bits of the pilot episode and I loved it. So I hunted for a DVD (pirated of course) of it on a local mall and found it and watched it over the weekend. I love it coz the story is really interesting. It is written in comic book style where it keeps you hanging on the end and you just have to know what happens next. I thought at first that it’s another X-men wannabe show but it isn’t.
introspection
March 15, 2007I have moved my personal blog, introspection, here. This blog will be dedicated to less personal matters.
Meme: 5 Favorite Posts
Carey(Ideas in Pink) tagged me with another meme. This meme is qute special coz she made it herself. This one is a product of her hard work(char) and imaginings so I want to make a good job of it
Here are the rules:
1. Choose five blogs randomly from your blogroll.
2. For each blog, choose at least one entry (you could add more) which is your favorite post by this blogger.
3. Include a link to this post and explain why you like it.
4. The chosen five bloggers are considered tagged and they will also have to do the same in their blogs.

interlude
March 12, 2007I missed work last Sat because I had a slight hangover. I slept it off and when I woke up afterwards I realized that I have nothing to do. I racked my brain for some appointments and found none. I thought of making plans, going out, watch a movie, obtain another hang over, slay some dragons, turn water into wine but in the end I ended up doing nothing. In the accounting of your time on earth, these times may appear as gaps, empty spaces …worthless. I’d like to call these pauses…lulls.. interludes(not the one in Cabaguio
). Some people when confronted with interludes may be bothered with doing nothing because they are allergic to boredom and measure their worth with the amount of things they do. But I don’t.
I realized that doing nothing is an activity in itself. I realized that these moments provide you with a sense of awareness of yourself of the "i". And I’m not talking about meditation or doing some stuff to bring your soul to a state of Nirvana. I just mean, simply staring out into space. Letting your thoughts flow without interruption or reflection. Just being aware that there is this free time in your life. That there is a time. A life. And most importantly that there is a you.
Author’s Note:
If I’m still not making much sense blame it on the hangover of the hangover. I just realized that I must be fascinated with time coz i blogged about it before.
Boys don’t cry
March 9, 2007Laila’s baby died two weeks ago. Laila is an officemate and a close friend. It was her first baby, a honeymoon baby actually. She just got married last October and learned she was pregnant a month later. She was pretty excited about it esp. coz her husband is due to leave the cuntry, he’s a seaman. She was hoping that the next time her husband returned home, they would have the baby. There would be 3 of them. A nice start for the newlywed. It was a dream come true for them. But last Monday, we learned that she had a miscarriage so we visited her at the hospital. She learned that time that the baby was already dead inside her womb for two weeks most probably due to stress. She was having pains for the past few weeks but it went on and off so she didn’t suspected anything serious. When we went there, we saw this fetus inside a plastic bag. All that remained of a life that never was. Eyes that never opened. Fists that never unfurled. A cry never bellowed. Not even a chance. Only four months inside the womb but will sorely be missed for a lifetime. Like Carey’s recent post, nobody knows why these kinds of things happen but we could only hope that those babies are in a better place, angels looking down at us.

American Idol Season 6
March 8, 2007Its American Idol season again, woohoo! Finally I'm gonna have some life again. It actually started over a month ago and they're down to top 16 contestants. I was actually a bit disappointed coz I feel that this Season's batch paled in comparison to last year. I believed last season offered much variety. And I still haven't got over Chris Daughtry's losing who was my bet. His album is out by the way and topping the Billboard Chart's 200. Okay back to this season. After seeing last night's performance, i now have a bet, Lewis Blake, the walking beatbox. He's just soo COOL! He really is talented and unique and so far I haven't seen anyone like him in all of AI seasons. Last night he sang 311's All mixed up and he was really good. My other bets are Chris Richardson, who seems to look like he’s always up to something mischievous. He can sing Jason Mraz songs but he’s a bit boyband-ish. And Phil Stacey, who looks like he is recovering from some kind of disease but he has this really Sting-like voice. I haven't had any female bets but that may change after tonight.
One of the things I love about the show is being reintroduced to great artist and music. Last week I rediscovered Marvin Gaye, who I think is still the S in Soul and Sexy. And now it's 311. The contestants just have this way of bringing a new twist to the songs we used to ignore or even hate.
Ally Mcbeal
March 7, 2007I've been down this road walkin the line
Thats painted by pride
And I have made mistakes in my life
That I just cant hideOh I believe I am ready for what love has to bring
Got myself together, now Im ready to singIve been searchin my soul tonight
I know theres so much more to life
Now I know I can shine a light
To find my way back home-Searching my soul, Vonda Shepard
I'm still recovering from my Ally Mcbeal marathon which ended last night. 5 seasons, 5 cds, 112 episodes , hours and hours of escaping reality.Definitely my favorite show of all time. I will certainly miss the colorful characters, the songs and the moment of epiphanies, good thing that I can watch it again anytime I want to.This is my current theme song by the way :-)
P.S. I was really planning to write a really lenghty post about the show.. about the guys in Ally's life, the lessons i've learned, the parallelism in my life and ally's but….i'm still too emotional to do it(read:lazy).
Jet Plane
March 5, 2007This morning as I was going to work I heard or rather felt this loud whizzing noise above and looked up to the sky. I saw this huge cloud streak that a jet plane has made and I can’t help but smile. I recalled when I was a child while playing on the streets; the neighboring kids and I would pause mid-play and just stare up at the sky every time a jet plane passes by. We used to find the cloud streak so amazing and would try to trace where it began and ended. We find it almost as magical as the rainbow. I even thought to myself that when I grow up, I want to be a jet plane so I could whiz by the sky and play in the clouds. As an adult I even found it more magical than the rainbow coz I know its man made. I marvel at how a man made machine can alter the image of the sky and disturb the formation of the clouds. It’s like touching hands with the Creator.
Speaking of planes, my friend Ruby and I bought a roundtrip ticket to Manila for October 31. Yeah it’s still far but Cebu Pacific has this Piso promo.(Read it on Ayeza's Blog). You only pay piso plus taxes of course for any domestic flights from June 1 to December 31 2007. We only paid P2483 roundtrip instead of the usual P4600++. However, you need to purchase the ticket from March 2 to 8, so if you’re interested hurry up and see more details at the Cebu Pacific website.
Circus
March 1, 2007Fake plastered smiles.
Remix of Lito Camus novelty songs.
Ill conceived advertisements.
Empty promises.
Unifinished road constructions.
Trapos coming to life.
It only means one thing. It must be election time again. The circus is back in town. But oh wait, they actually never left it’s just that they’re introducing new acts and stunts. New clowns, acrobats, trained animals and etc. I tried to keep my political views to myself and even ignore it’s existence in the first place. But Pichay Itanim sa Senado! is too hard to resist and not comment on. When I first saw the TV ad, I almost fell off my seat laughing. You’ve got to be kidding me. But when I saw on the news that he spent some 33 Million Pesoses and topped the list for spending in advertisement , that’s when I was sure that he really was kidding me. Plus not to mention the fact taht maybe he spent a few more pesos to his fave.Have some sort of surgery done to his eyes coz it really looks deep set.Maybe he had a Northern Virginia eyelid surgery? We'll never know but it's not impossible since candidates seems to do anything to win even if it involves altering their faces or spending a lot.
Strangely enough but all this election hullabaloo reminded me of our classroom election while we were in Second Grade. My classmate, Edwin, a bully nominated me for Sergeant at Arms just to make fun of me. He even campaigned for it inside our classroom. I actually won and I remember crying and dying of embarrassment. But I quickly recovered and nominated him for Prince Charming but unfortunately he didn’t win. My revenge wasn’t fully realized but I caused him to panic for a few minutes and that was enough plus the fact that he didn’t bother me again. That classroom scene was a microcosm of what is actually happening in our electoral process today. Aside from being totally laughable, it is full of selfish motives, vengeance, and nuisance candidates. But there are also candidates who are exceptions to the rule albeit hard to find so vote wisely <insert fake smile>
