Circus
March 1, 2007Fake plastered smiles.
Remix of Lito Camus novelty songs.
Ill conceived advertisements.
Empty promises.
Unifinished road constructions.
Trapos coming to life.
It only means one thing. It must be election time again. The circus is back in town. But oh wait, they actually never left it’s just that they’re introducing new acts and stunts. New clowns, acrobats, trained animals and etc. I tried to keep my political views to myself and even ignore it’s existence in the first place. But Pichay Itanim sa Senado! is too hard to resist and not comment on. When I first saw the TV ad, I almost fell off my seat laughing. You’ve got to be kidding me. But when I saw on the news that he spent some 33 Million Pesoses and topped the list for spending in advertisement , that’s when I was sure that he really was kidding me. Plus not to mention the fact taht maybe he spent a few more pesos to his fave.Have some sort of surgery done to his eyes coz it really looks deep set.Maybe he had a Northern Virginia eyelid surgery? We'll never know but it's not impossible since candidates seems to do anything to win even if it involves altering their faces or spending a lot.
Strangely enough but all this election hullabaloo reminded me of our classroom election while we were in Second Grade. My classmate, Edwin, a bully nominated me for Sergeant at Arms just to make fun of me. He even campaigned for it inside our classroom. I actually won and I remember crying and dying of embarrassment. But I quickly recovered and nominated him for Prince Charming but unfortunately he didn’t win. My revenge wasn’t fully realized but I caused him to panic for a few minutes and that was enough plus the fact that he didn’t bother me again. That classroom scene was a microcosm of what is actually happening in our electoral process today. Aside from being totally laughable, it is full of selfish motives, vengeance, and nuisance candidates. But there are also candidates who are exceptions to the rule albeit hard to find so vote wisely <insert fake smile>

Too bad for that bully not to win the class election as Prince Charming. Haha. But didn’t you protest when he nominated you for Sergeant At Arms? You should have said, “I would like to meekly request my name be dropped from the nomination list for this specific position as I believe the entire class has reserved for me a more apt position: Muse.” O di mas magugulat sya. Hehe.
Posted by Abaniko at March 3, 2007, 10:31 pmwow 33M, that’s too much! so funny yet sad… the way politicians are these days - resorting to all kinds of tricks just to win votes
i do hope the filipinos learn from past mistakes (voting for artistas and trapos)
sayang, i can’t vote this coming elections, my records are in cebu and i’m here in negros.
honestly, given the chance to go home during elections i will really vote. I am not into politics nor adore those fake politicians whose dirts are scattered all over the television but what i wanna do is to jot down some candidates that i think is not Mr Pogi Goma or Mr. “jose rizal look-a-like” Cesar Montana.
**pataka ra man na sila ug dagan oi. murag korak dang ba. mao nay giingon sa mga bisayang bayot nga Char lang!
Posted by psyche at March 5, 2007, 6:18 am@leigh:you have to vote to atleast make an effort to effect change.award ka jan! lOLS
@Abaniko:hahaha being a Muse would be more embarrasing!Being a Sgt at arms was a blessing in disguise actually, the position paved the way for me to become a bully myself
@carey:yeah really sad but we musn’t lose hope. i can’t vote too actually coz i failed to re-register
@psyche:mao jud…char2x lang gud!
Posted by floraine at March 5, 2007, 10:40 amIt’s horrifying to know they spend too much of “their” money for ads that are not even worth the airspace. Imagine Defensor’s “Tol” campaign ad. Studio-based? Look at the background. Black. Murag tantamount to saying ngit-ngit kaugma-on ninyo pag ako inyong iboto. With all those zeroes, they can afford all those advertising bigwigs to do their ads for them.
Tol.
Acck!
